Large shaped windows can create challenges when choosing plantation shutters. For this Oran Park installation, maintaining an open architectural feel was just as important as privacy and light control.
This project included custom Basswood Timber Superspan plantation shutters, matching roller blinds and sheer S-Wave curtains installed on TubeSlider tracks.

Existing Room
The room featured large raked highlight windows extending across both sides of the living area. Due to the window size and shape, panel layout became an important design consideration.
AI Design Comparison
Before manufacturing, visual concepts were created to compare different plantation shutter layouts and determine the best balance between appearance, structure and maintaining the open architectural feel of the room.
Two design options were explored to compare panel quantity, T-Post placement and overall appearance before selecting the final configuration.
Option 1 – Ecosmart Shutters (12 Panels)
A standard plantation shutter layout would require additional panel divisions and more panels across the opening. While functional, the extra divisions created a busier appearance and reduced the open architectural feel of the room.

Why Basswood Timber Superspan Was Chosen
